Background information
How fast is the open access publishing movement growing?
We know that it is growing, based on the increasing amount of content, and the rising number of campuses urging or requiring faculty to publish through open access. But at what rate?
As a sample, we’re looking at the number of journals recorded in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ, http://www.doaj.org/). As of today that amount stands at 4504. Let’s see how long it will take to reach 4700 (if ever).
